Maureen Denise McCormick was born on the 5th of August 1956 in Woodland Hills California the youngest and only child of Richard McCormick and Irene McCormick. Her father was a schoolteacher while her mother was a stay-at-home mother. There are three brothers older than her: Michael Dennis and Kevin. McCormick began performing and singing from a young age. At the age 6, McCormick won the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley competition. Pat Domigan from the Jack Wormser Agency then called her and asked whether the actress was keen to work in showbusiness. McCormick was commissioned to perform in her debut major performance in 1964 on an tv commercial featuring Mattels most recent doll, Baby Pattaburp. In the following year, she appeared as Chatty Cathy in a commercial which was later adapted for the show Wind It Up And It's Breaks at the La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick, which was chosen out of 1200 auditioning children to play the third of three head-to-head daughters, in The Brady Bunch (1969), starring Florence Henderson and Robert Reed. The show ran for 5 seasons. In her autobiography Heres the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice published in 2008 McCormick admitted that in the fifth season, she was close to losing her virginity to her onscreen co-star and brother Barry Williams. At the time, she was just 16 years old and he was 19. The incident could have occurred, she said but the timing was never right for us.
